In 2013, FUWANA funded the planting of a garden with fresh vegetables for girls’ elementary school in the Village of Boke Dialloube, Senegal. It also contributed to the planting of shaded trees and the construction of benches around the school. The project inspired the mayor of the town to finance an innovative drip irrigation system. Besides improving girls’ diet, the project generated revenues from the sale of vegetables which allowed the school to purchase school supplies.
