BOOKS DONATION TO LEPER
COMMUNITY IN MBALLING VILLAGE

Results: 1,500 students benefitted from this project.

In 2013, FUWANA and Youth Education for Development and Entrepreneurship (YEDE) shipped a batch of books donated by the World Bank to leper community in Mballing (Region of Thies), Senegal. The community housed the books in an allocated room made available to marginalized children. This new library is still the reference education and learning facility of the underserved leper community of Mballing.

AWARNESS CAMPAIGN ON
CHILD MARRIAGE IN NOUAKCHOTT

Results: 150 students

In 20017, in partnership with the Association Mauritanienne pour la Santé de la Mère et de l’Enfant AMSME/DEIand FUWANA organized an awareness raising campaign for girls’ education and the impact of early marriage on them. Project activities included organization of awareness campaigns with majority girl’s schools, parent and the community leaders. The awareness campaign was closed with a distribution of school kits, contributing positively to the health and development of young girls, and promoting access to education as a human right. About 150 girls benefitted from this program.

School Supplies and Backpacks
In Gongore, Pita

Results: 50 students with school supplies, including 30 girls

Many parents in rural Ledhe Hadhe in Guinea believe in the benefit of education for their children, even if they themselves were never able to attend school. Some families are not able to afford school supplies without compromising on food and other essentials. In 2022, FUWANA purchased school supply kits for elementary school students and distributed to these families in need.

Burkina Education Project

⦁ Disbursed $1,000,0000 in small grants supporting income-generating activities of displaced mothers to support education of their children
⦁ Reconstituted birth certificates of displaced children, enrolled them into schools

In Ouagadougou, FUWANA provided financial support to several families displaced by the conflict in northern Burkina and surviving on the roadside charity. FUWANA provided small grants to the mothers enabling them to engage in income-generating activities to support the schooling of their children. FUWANA partnered with l’Association Weltarais to reconstitute displaced children’s birth certificates, enrolled them into public schools and granted essential school supplies.
