Support to the Victims of Rape and sexual violence

In September 2009, in one of the most brutal incidents in Guinea’s history, security forces fired on peaceful pro-democracy protestors leaving 150 dead, raped and sexually assaulted more than 100, the majority of whom were women and youth. This unprecedented massacre left the country deeply wounded, leaving lasting scars for a decade.

FUWANA assisted the victims by providing shelter, medicine, and other basic needs. FUWANA continues to stand against all forms of violence and strongly supports the full implementation of the Convention on the Status of Women in West Africa.

Rebuilding Levees In
The Village Of Doue

Country: Senegal
Partner: Mayor of Doue’s village

In 2011, Doue peninsula, Senegal was struck by hurricane Katrina with almost all infrastructure swept away by floodwaters. FUWANA joined forces with local and international organizations to mobilize funding for water pumping out of the village and rebuilding levees to prevent the flood magnitude from reoccurring in the future.

Dalaba reforestation project

Results: Planting and preservation of 10 ha.

In 2017, FUWANA contributed to the reforestation of a pine field for the Diaguissa Project. This financial support has helped in the sustainable management of the pine tree resources. It also played a vital role in the overall development of the town, positively impacting the lives of its residents and contributing to the preservation of 10 hectares of a vital ecological asset. In this way, the FUWANA funding has been an invaluable asset for both Dalaba and the region as a whole, ensuring a long-term preservation of the environmental.
